Hello friends! This week, I wanted to share another LinkedIn tip… did you know that you can formally mention someone on LinkedIn? When you do this, they get an email from LinkedIn telling them that you mentioned them… and the email also has a link to the status update or comment where you mentioned them.
Mentioning someone on LinkedIn is a great way to tell one of your connections about something they should take a look at on LinkedIn.
Perks: You get to see my smiling face? How about the fact that you might learn something that helps you make a positive impact with an important relationship on LinkedIn. As always, I am not selling anything… I create these every week with the hope of adding value to your day.
All you have to do to start the process of mentioning someone on LinkedIn is type the @ symbol in a comment or status update and then start typing the person’s first name. A list of results of your connections will come up. When you see the person you are trying to mention, click their name and it will be added to your comment. You will be able to tell it is special text because it will be bold.
(Pro tip: If you want to mention their first name only, you can back space to remove their last name and their first name will still be a mention link.)
