Did you notice I gave myself some time off from blogging at the end of 2019? My last blog post was December 18th and I suggested taking a look at Mint.com to get a handle on your budget during holiday downtime. I appreciate the hundreds of interactions and comments that happened on LinkedIn. It lets me know I am offering up good info.
I stumbled into 2020 with that cold that’s going around. It’s a nasty one with lots of sneezing and coughing. Took me a full week to get through the worst of it. I hope it misses you entirely. But if it doesn’t I am going to compile a list of things I did while I was resting up later in this story.
There are so many things I could talk about this week… so I’m going to share three. Two business related thoughts and one that’s more personal.
Mic mentioned to me last week that he is still getting invitations to connect on LinkedIn with the canned message. He thought it might be a good blog post reminder. And I agree. So here is the reminder… DON’T SEND CANNED INVITATIONS TO CONNECT ON LINKEDIN. Why? Read more here… we’ve covered it a bunch over the years.
If you hadn’t heard, California passed a consumer privacy act along the same lines as GDPR in Europe. Businesses are subject to the CCPA if one or more of the following are true:
Nobody is going to develop a solution that works for web visitors or companies in California, it is going to be a larger implementation of security and privacy controls that websites will need to have. Over the coming months, we are going to see WordPress theme and plugin developers bringing tools to the table to allow you to adhere to these rules (if they apply).
There you go… Some of the things on my mind this week! Stay healthy… and if not, rest up and stay entertained. :) Talk to you next week!
