Hello friends! In this video, I cover two topics… following up with people that are not responding to you and email subject and content best practices.
We have all had this happen to us. You’ve sent a proposal and then followed up a couple of times with emails. Cricket… cricket… And sure, we need to be patient. We need to understand that we aren’t their priority right now. But it’s also reasonable to expect a response, even if it’s, “I am buried right now, please follow up next week.”
Once you have sent three emails, it’s probably time to pick up the phone.
Here are a couple of quick adjustments that you can make to how you send emails that might be more productive or at least helpful to the person receiving your email.
First, put your name or company name and then a colon followed by the topic of the email in the subject line. This will make it easier for them to see your message in the list of dozens of read emails that they were saving for later to deal with.
Second, once you are done crafting your email, read through it while looking for any “To Dos” you are asking of the recipient. If there are a couple of them, consider moving them to the top of your email after the greeting. And if there is a good amount of content, consider breaking it up with bold topic lines, a numbered steps format, etc.
I hope after watching the video you learn something that you can use to be more efficient and effective with your communications. And if you have any tips or tricks that you use, please leave them in the comments below. Thanks!
