Hello, friends. Welcome to another video blog from Blue Gurus. This week, I’m going to talk a little bit about Happy Scribe. It’s an online transcription service that has a lot of good purposes for when you’re trying to do video blogging and SEO and things like that.
Quick aside, I finally figured out Auto Focus on my camera. Now I can put something up in the frame and it will focus on it. And then when I take it away, it’ll focus back on my face.
Boring, right? It took me weeks to figure that out. Hey, in my defense, there’s about ten thousand settings on my camera, and I’ve got so much to learn, but I am learning. All right, on to Happy Scribe.
It’s probably easiest to explain it just by talking about how I’m using it. So when I do a video like this… sure, I can upload it to YouTube and then embed it in my WordPress Web site as a blog.
But Google doesn’t understand video, so you have to put text into the web page as well. Whether that’s just an excerpt or a synopsis of what you talked about, or it could be the actual text.
This also lends itself well to closed captioning. If you’re a business that is impacted by accessibility issues or you just want to allow your content to be as freely shareable as possible… Why not have your captions and close captioning built into the content of your video?
All you have to do is record your video and then you upload that video (or even just the audio file) to HappyScribe.co and a few minutes later they will transcribe it. Yes, you’ve got to pay for it per minute. But instead of you typing it out, listening to it a little bit, typing a little bit, listening to it a little bit, you get the idea. That’s not worth your time.
They will transcribe your video for you and email you when that transcription is done. What’s really cool is the various ways you can export the text. They’re smart enough to understand that you’re going to be exporting this content into Adobe premiere or YouTube as subtitles and captions. And you can export it in lots of different ways. So during the video I’ll show you a couple of screenshots of the interface of Happy Scribe.
If you guys are getting into any of this kind of stuff and you’re doing video, use a transcription service like HappyScribe.co to save you a ton of time.
There’s tons of transcription services out there, but I’ve been really happy with Happy Scribe so far. I hope you were able to watch the video. And if you haven’t subscribed to my YouTube channel, please do so!
Have a great week.
