Have you seen this video before? We added it to the On Site WordPress Web Development page of our web site recently.
This is the second post in a blog series highlighting the videos we’ve done for our web site. We hope our stories around how it all came together inspire you or your company to start thinking seriously about how video can enhance your online presence and help your business grow!
This video was the first of three videos that were captured in a one hour session of “takes” with Mike Snell at Blue Wall Design, the video production company that caters to small and medium sized businesses.
We heard a lot of great feedback and kudos about our home page video mentioned in the previous blog post… thank you! One thing we heard often was how much shorter Mic is compared to me. I am 6′ 5″, so most people look short when standing right next to me! For the next three videos, Mic got on his soapbox… literally… which solved the problem. He stood on a 4″ tall platform for these videos. :) We even thought about doing a video with Mic on a chair so that he would be taller than me.
It’s interesting to look back on how much we struggled capturing this particular video compared to the two we will highlight in future blog posts.
We shot the video first thing in the morning so we weren’t really “on” yet mentally. Once we warmed up after a few minutes of shooting, the second problem turned up. Our brains were going faster than our mouths, so what was actually being said was a disjointed mess! We realized that we needed to slow down. We stopped worrying so much about fitting everything into a 2 minute video and focused on saying what needed to be said.
We do WordPress web development at your location for a lot of reasons. Most importantly is the collaboration that happens when we work directly with your team. Design changes are made quickly and can be seen immediately. Compare that to other companies where you have to send emails or get on the phone and then wait for results to show up in a day or two (or a WEEK!)
Your team has a vested interest in the end result. By working on the project together, everyone knows what is happening. Everyone knows what your company is saying and promising on your website. Also, your team learns how to add content to the site themselves.
We get to know each other better personally and professionally during the project. I don’t know many companies in town that have the confidence to work side-by-side with their clients on a web development project. We have to know what we are doing because you will be watching us as we do it!
You want a company you can trust that is going to be there for you long term. There are so many other things that we end up helping our clients with during the project, and even after the project. Business referrals, technical tips and tricks, and improving communication within your team are just a few of the things that happen.
To read what our clients say about how much of a difference it makes that we do the work on site, check out our web portfolio.
WordPress powers more than 65 MILLION websites. Don’t take our word for it, check out the live statistics here. This matters because it’s a platform that is well supported, growing and being used by many of the websites that you visit on a regular basis. It’s not going anywhere soon.
WordPress delivers on the promise that you can update the content on your website in house, without paying another company to add a new employee to the staff page!
One of our favorite reasons for using WordPress is that it makes it easy to completely change the look and feel of your website without having to redo your previous content. Many of our clients have an active blog. Think about the effort it would take to move months or years of blog stories, pictures, PDFs, etc. We change the look and feel of BlueGurus.com every year or two. We are on our fourth version of the website in four years.

As always, thank you so much for reading and commenting! We appreciate you!
